In memoriam: Dr. Glenda MacQueen

Students, trainees, faculty and staff,

It is with incredible sadness that I have to inform you that Glenda MacQueen passed away last night. Glenda was our vice dean from 2012 to 2020 and we owe much of the success of our school to Glenda. Glenda was a very special person. An incredibly bright and productive clinician scientist she was also one of the most caring and warm people I have known. Glenda had a special gift in working with people and looking at issues from fresh and new perspectives. Our team in the Dean’s Office came to love Glenda and I see little bits of her in all of us in the CSM. She touched us in a multitude of ways and we are better for it. We will miss her kindness, her mentorship and her simple willingness to always put others ahead of herself. I know that we will all carry her memory for the rest of our days and I personally feel deeply privileged to have known and worked with Glenda. On behalf of the CSM, our thoughts are with Glenda’s family during this very difficult time.

Sincerely,

Jon Meddings, MDDean,
