I am a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr Jaideep Bains, Hotchkiss Brain Institute, University of Calgary. I did my PhD in computational neuroscience in the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The main endocrine response to stress, the systemic release of corticosterone, is initiated by a distinct group of cells in the hypothalamus. Recent work in our lab showed that these cells can influence behaviour in short time-scales by projecting to other areas of the brain. My research focuses on understanding the role of these cells in acute and chronic stress response, by imaging their activity in behaving animals using state of the art optical and genetic tools.
