I grew up in Calgary and completed a BSc from the University of Calgary in 2017. During my time at the U of C, I did my undergraduate research studies with Dr. Jeff Biernaskie focused on studying the controversial identity of neural stem cells in the adult brain. Since, I have joined the MD/PhD program at the University of Toronto. I started my PhD after just 1 year of MD studies and I am doing my graduate work under Dr. Taufik Valiante, a neurosurgeon and scientist at the University Health Network.
I am interested in studying the disease of epilepsy in the brain with a focus on gathering ‘big-data’ on seizures. The goal of this work is to understand how seizures invade and propagate across the brain, based on the principles of neural activity flow that we already know about.
