Kaitlin Sullivan completed her undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science at McGill University, where her honours thesis focussed upon looking at the biophysics of a novel sodium channel. She is currently a Master’s student in the laboratory of Mark Cembrowski at the University of British Columbia studying the molecular mechanisms underlying fear memory.

Research Project

Kaitlin’s project seeks to identify unique subtypes of neurons that are key in the formation and retrieval of fear memory. The aim is to not only address a basic question of neuroscience but to also elucidate cellular and molecular targets that may interfere with fear memory – providing a vital framework for future work developing therapeutic interventions for PTSD.
