.

Siavash Ghaffari is a postdoctoral fellow in the Centre for Applied Genomics (TCAG) at SickKids Hospital, supervised by Dr. Stephen Scherer. Siavash received his Ph.D. from McGill University in Biomedical Engineering. His long term research interests include developing computational algorithms and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in healthcare research.

Research Project

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a collection of neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by impaired social interaction and communication and repetitive behaviors, and approximately 1 in 68 children are affected. Siavash’s research project utilizes data from MSSNG, the world’s largest genome sequencing project devoted to ASD, and develops AI-based computational algorithms in order to better understand the genetic of ASD, which may result in better diagnostics and more accurate treatments.
