@MsEllenKoch

I am a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia, under the supervision of Dr. Lynn Raymond. In my work, I am using a variety of slice and in vivo imaging techniques to investigate how striatal neural activity correlates with motor and learning deficits in a mouse model of Huntington’s disease. Additionally, I’m creating an online database containing raw data and data analysis scripts, to enhance scientific collaboration and aid in the creation of open source tools for the analysis of neural activity and behaviour.

Research Project

I am studying how changes to neural signalling correlate with behavioural symptoms in Huntington’s disease, a devastating neurodegenerative disorder with no cure. My experiments generate large amounts of data, and thus I am using open source data sharing platforms to share raw data and codes that I have developed for data analysis. By creating an organized database for this project, I aim to increase collaboration between labs performing this essential research, and further the development of open source data analysis tools in neuroscience.
