Peter is a Ph.D. student at the University of British Columbia. His work in the laboratory of Dr. Kurt Haas investigates how the dendritic arbor of developing brain cells is regulated by both molecular and activity-based mechanisms. His work sits at the intersections of optics, bioimage analysis, and developmental neuroscience.

Research Project

Many new forms of microscopy gain an incredible increase in acquisition speed by only imaging predetermined areas of interest, allowing for the imaging of neuronal activity. Manually selecting these regions of interest is often slow and makes it difficult to apply these imaging techniques to highly dynamic structures. Peter’s project is to automate the generation and management of regions of interest to allow for easier adoption of these high-speed microscopy techniques to more experimental questions.
