I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Hotchkiss Brain Institute at the University of Calgary focusing on in vivo calcium imaging and electrophysiology. I received my PhD in Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia studying the synaptic mechanisms of memory formation.
Research Project
My research utilizes and develops open source hardware and software in order to combine widespread calcium imaging of brain activity with electrophysiology to describe cortical-subcortical dynamics in models of neuropsychiatric disorders. Together these modalities offer a combination of temporal precision and spatial scale that is otherwise difficult to achieve. This project aims to describe the widespread network alterations that are understood to be a fundamental mechanism of neuropsychiatric dysfunction, in the hope that a more complete understanding of these network alterations may provide insight into novel treatment approaches.
